Year Two – January 13, 2012
Eucharistic Visits to Hospitals and the Homebound
This talk will:
- Discuss the role of clergy and lay people in the ministry of Eucharistic visits to hospitals and the homebound.
- Offer strategies for recruiting, training and supporting workers in this ministry.
- Give an overview of legal issues, personal boundaries and the importance of confidentiality in a pastoral care setting.
Conversion in Adults
Handling Crisis Situations: Counseling for Non-Counselors
This talk will:
- Identify typical crisis situations that arise in parish ministries.
- Articulate and demonstrate the necessary pastoral and professional intervention skills.
- Highlight referral and mandatory reporting procedures.
Evangelization within the Family Context
This talk will:
- Discuss the ways in which non-Catholics participate in pastoral care settings.
- Highlight the important issues that surface with regards to the participation of non-Catholics in liturgy and prayer.
- Emphasize the importance of hospitality to all who are served by pastoral care outreach and provide non-threatening strategies for their evangelization.
Working with Seniors
This talk will:
- Introduce the participant to key Church documents regarding ministry to seniors.
- Identify the major spiritual and faith issues present among the senior population.
- Discuss strategies for reaching out to seniors at the parish level.
